Five years ago my husband Duane was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. It rocked our world. We were devastated to hear the consensus prediction of four and a half years average life expectancy. We decided to make the most of every single day we were given. Trips to New York, Washington D.C., Las Vegas, Yellowstone and Surprise, AZ (to see his Kansas City Royals in Spring training) were all taken and enjoyed as we crossed item after item off our bucket list. I do my best to take care of Duane’s needs. I research treatments and add supplements which I think might give us more time, After already beating that four and a half years prediction, we are optimistically planning to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 4, 2020! I know we’ll make it because Hope sustains us now. We are on this journey together. It’s not a journey we’d have picked but it has deepened our love and given us an appreciation for each and every day that we are given.
