About Jack M
Hi, my story is about my parents. My dad was diagnosed first with colon cancer in 2009 and told he had about 6 months to live. After several surgeries, he beat colon cancer at 86 years old. Since then he was diagnosed with lung cancer, had his prostrate removed, and most recently skin cancer in 2017 where he underwent radiation treatment. He will be 92 on March 14th this year. Through out all of this, my mom, who is significantly younger than him, has been by his side for everything. She is a true caregiver. She takes care of everything for our family. And everything for my dad. In October of 2017 she was diagnosed with stage 1B lung cancer. Doctors caught it early and moved fast. She had her upper left lobe of her lung removed on December 5th 2017. At this point, my sister and I became the caregivers. I moved in with my dad for the week my mom was in the hospital, and my sister went to the hospital to see her every day. This was the first time in 40 years my dad had to be without my mom. That week showed me just how much my parents love each other. It showed me how strong my mom is, how much she took care of my dad. My mom came through the surgery great and is currently battling through chemo treatments. She is at home and while she is taking care of herself, she is also still taking care of my dad. My mom is the most amazing caregiver, wife, mother and person. No matter how she is feeling, or what she is going through, she is always there for everyone else too.
