About Lisa C.
My Mom was my Dad’s caregiver. All my life my Dad was so attentive to my mom. He loved her more than himself. When my Dad was diagnosed in 2009, my Mom crumbled. Thankfully, there were medicines that kept my Dad healthy and kept the cancer from growing for about 8 years. My parents moved closer to me in 2012. In 2017 Dad’s cancer wasn’t obeying the rules we put on it. It stopped responding to the medicines that had worked before. My Mom, stepped up to the plate and, I can’t quite put it in words, took such good care of him. She visited him everyday when he was in the hospital. She fed him, changed him, bathed him, when he was in hospice at home. She never complained or wanted a break. She sang to him and read him the Bible. I am so amazed at my Mom’s strength. When he passed she was there holding his hand. I truly believe that he only wanted her there. She is my role model, inspiration, and who I want to be.
