About Rebecca M.
My father was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer in September 2018 after going to the hospital for a stroke. He started chemo immediately. Due to the stroke and also being sick and weak from the chemo, he couldn’t take care of himself. I did not want him to go to a nursing home, so I moved him into my home with my son and I. He can barely see or walk and he’s lost so much weight in the last few months. He can’t make his own meals or do much of anything on his own because he gets so dizzy if he stands too long. It’s been hard on us but I wouldn’t have it any other way. He raised me so I would never send him away when he needs me the most. I have an older brother but he is in the military so he can’t help out. My son is too young to help. It’s just me. I’ve had to miss a lot of work so I can take him to appointments and to treatments. It’s been rough financially and emotionally. I hate that anyone has to go through cancer of any kind. But I’m so thankful that I can be here for my dad.
