About Lois S
Our story starts at 15 and 16 when we were in high school. Fast forward 47 years and here we are– married for almost 40 and hoping and praying that we can still have more time together. Yes, I know we should be grateful for the time we have had, and we are, but when your soulmate and best friend is diagnosed with an aggressive Stage 4 Prostate Cancer, you can’t believe this fairy tale can end. Almost a year ago, we received the diagnosis. My husband’s response “Darn, Darn.” My response #$%*&! It was about that time that I saw you and your husband on Ellen and cried like a baby after watching you both play the game with the outcome being a donation to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Thank you for what you are doing, if it helps one family, it is well worth it. Since then, he has been amazing undergoing, chemo, hormone therapy and involved in a clinical trial with immunotherapy infusions. I am the caretaker, but I have it way too easy. He is amazing, I can’t say it enough. His attitude makes it so easy to take care of him. I got him a little sign to remind him how amazing I think he is. I hear others who don’t have it as easy and I am thankful every day for the amazing man that I am blessed to be able to take care of. I’m not sure if this story is quite what you were looking for but it felt really good to be able to put it into words to let someone else know that being a caretaker for me is the least I can do for this amazing guy, husband and father that worries more about everyone else than he does himself. Look at this picture which I took at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York, isn’t that the cutest little bald head you have ever seen? xoxo
