My father was diagnosed a little over a year ago with prostate cancer. He underwent surgery and since, has been dealing with the aftermath of the surgery and it has taken a great toll on not only him- but our family. The angel in all of this is my mother. Not only a devout wife, but she is his caretaker. She has been there for many other family members and friends who have dealt with serious life threatening issues including other forms of cancer up until death. Without a doubt, our family knows my mother’s calling is to be there (to care for) those who are sick and in need. Not only does she help with the rebuild of physical strength and belief in the reconstructing of physical abilities, but she uplifts the mental state and is a true blessing to everyone who knows her. She is the most selfless woman I know. She sets aside her own anxiety, worry, sadness and depression to keep the backbone of this family strong and to restore faith in all of us. She works with my father in the business of their home, care takes for him, is a devout wife and mother and does so without any request of paying back. I want to recognize her because I feel that she doesn’t get the recognition she deserves nor do I feel that she believes anyone sees it but her.
