About Eleonora Dondossola, PhD

Dr. Eleonora Dondossola is an instructor at the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology – Research, Division of Cancer Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. A native of Italy, Dr. Dondossola earned her BSc, MSc, and PhD from the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Milan. Currently, Dr. Dondossola focuses on prostate cancer bone metastases, particularly on the role of the host microenvironment in tumor progression and therapy response, including Radium-223 radioisotope. Dr. Dondossola’s research will investigate Radium 223’s therapeutic outcome using advanced live imaging in mice and other complementary approaches.

Dr. Dondossola’s work has been published in revered journals such as: Science Translational Medicine, Nature Biomedical Engineering, PNAS, Cancer Research and the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Additionally, she has received many distinguished awards and honors, including: The Rolanette and Berdon Lawrence Bone Research Award and The Gerald B. Grindey Memorial Scholar-in-Training Award from the AACR. She was a Finalist for the 2019 Nature Research Award for Inspiring Science and has been selected as part of the 100 most influential Italian women in STEM.
