About Michael B.
From my routine check up exam, some issues were present. Elevated PSA. Probable cause was thought to be a UTI. Nothing showed on cultures. Waited months to see a urologist. Finally had a DNA sequencing test. Showed bacterial infection. MRI showed areas of other concern. Had biopsy, showed non aggressive cancer. Treatment kind of entered a “Limbo” stage. Decided to make some changes. My grandson has a girlfriend he’s been seeing since high school and through college. Her father is one of the top prostate cancer oncologist in the world. My grandson got me an appointment to see him. He noticed some irregularities in my biopsy compared to the MRI. He scheduled a MRI guided biopsy. Showed Gleason score of 8. Got me in for robotic surgery. Everything going great. Three PSA tests since show >0.01. I owe my life to my Grandson and the Oncology Doctor he had the relationship with. I got very lucky, also considering it was during the pandemic. I am very thankful. I pray for all others affected by this disease. Keep fighting. Good things will happen. Stay safe.
