Because cancer has many hereditary properties, it’s important that you share disease history with everyone in your family. Collect your cancer history up the family tree from older relatives (who might hesitate to discuss it), and also share that information down the family tree with your children.
The same genes that can cause prostate cancer can also cause breast, ovarian, colon, pancreatic, and other types of cancer. Be sure to write down all instances of cancer, not just prostate cancer. Also, share this information with your doctor.
