About Amy M.
My father was first diagnosed with prostate cancer for the first time years ago. He went through a round of radiation and his levels were brought down. Unfortunately, so was his energy level and his spirits. Fortunately, my mother, Maryann Plowman, remained optimistic and forced him to exercise and keep a healthy mind. Fast forward a few years later and the cancer came back with a vengeance and spread to his bones and hips. No radiation this time, only a recommendation of chemo. My father doesn’t want to go through it all. He just wants to make it to his 80th birthday in May. My mother humbly cares for him through his pain and her own debilitating, degenerative disease. She is an inspiration to her four children, grandchildren and all who know her. She picks up both his and her meds in her wheelchair, loading it in and out of the van on her own. She is patient, kind and loving. We don’t know how much time we have left with either of them but she has certainly embraced “in sickness and in health.” Cancer is terrible and as we get older, we cherish the time we have together because you just never know…an actual hug or virtual one, that will certainly happen this Valentines Day ❤️
