Six months after losing my mom to lung cancer, my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. This was in January, 2016. This was hard on my dad, step mom, and family. My dad was strong, independent, and hard headed. Now he had to learn to be dependent on his wife and children. My dad was lucky. His cancer had not spread. He had surgery in April, 2016, followed with 37 radiation treatments. My youngest brother and I took turns taking him to his doctor appointments and treatments. He is still dealing with a weak bladder, and now osteoporosis. He has not let these minor setbacks stop him. They have just slowed him down. My dad is my rock and strength. The Lord blessed our family with a wonderful role model.
