My husband was diagnosed 16 months ago with stage 4 prostate cancer. We went through all the testing and we decided that we would go with a clinical trial. We did the trial for Keytruda and Xtandi. He did well for awhile. Late spring, his scans showed a new mass in his abdomen. Had biopsies which were inconclusive. Had 10 rounds of radiation in early July. Followed by chemo of 5 different types of drugs. Again he fought and did well. His last scans in mid December came back bad. On December 27, 2021, his doctor gave us the news we were dreading. Cancer was in liver, bladder, bones and abdomen. On Wednesday, December 29, 2021 we started hospice at home. Our children, daughter in law and four grandchildren were there with us as he received the last rites. We were given the gift to say goodbye.
He passed away on December 31, 2021. We lost the best man ever. A piece of my heart now lives in heaven.
