About Gabby A.
My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December of 2015. He opted for surgery to remove the prostate, where we found out that the cancer had spread to the margins and their was a higher risk that it may have spread. Through it all my mom has been by his side. Being married for 45 years now their love and support of each other only became more apparent through this. After a tough recovery from the surgery my dad went through radiation treatment. My mom drove him every day to his appointments. She would come home and make sure his favorite meal was made and his resting areas were clean and ready for him. After radiation my dad had complications due to the removal of the prostate and in November of 2018 he went in for surgery again to insert a sling to help alleviate those complications. My mom has been by his side and at every appointment. Unfortunately the sling failed and my dad has to go back in for another surgery February 14th of this year. And there’s no question about where my mom will be spending her Valentines day. Per usual, she will be by his side, holding his hand, and supporting him through the recovery process. She’s never been one to complain, not only does she care for my dad through all this but she also takes care of my grandmother who suffered from a ruptured brain aneurysm. She does it out of love, always with a smile and a kind word. She never makes them feel like their a burden or inconvenience. My parents have taught me through example the true meaning of unconditional love, support, and resilience.
