About Jim D.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2010 and had treatment off and on over the next 7 years. However, in 2018, things took a turn for the worse. My cancer has metastasized to many parts of my body and I was going through the final few medical treatments available. Hospice was called in. I was now facing the unknown. Will I survive? Will I grow old with my wife and family? However, one constant in my life was my wife of over 20 years, Michelle. Besides doing the basics of taking me to doctor visits and treatments, she provided the perfect love and support this man desperately needed. Scared of the unknown, Michelle was there during every trial and tribulation, every tear, every angry outburst, every worry and every complaint. She in turn, never complained as she always was there for whatever need I had. She, along with my faith, gave me what I needed to get through this, encouraging to do my best each day even if the steps toward improvement where baby steps. She showed the patience of a saint, the resiliency needed for a loving caregiver. If I had asked her for the moon, I would have awoken from one of my daily rests to see the moon beside me. That love and care gave me the hope, comfort and strength to fight and fight I did. In late 2019, my PAS started to drop and the tumors began to shrink. I now have a traceable level and am in active surveillance . I could not have done this without Michelle. I am so blessed and loved!!!!!
