About John S.
In August of 2017, I met Laura on an internet dating site. In our profiles, we both wrote that we were looking for that one special person to share the rest of our lives with, among many other wants and wishes that we found to have in common. We immediately felt a connection and text-chatted every day for a couple of weeks. By the second week, our chats would go on for several hours each night. Then, we went on our first date which was a most wonderful and memorable evening of dining and comfortable conversation, and culminating with our first dance to the romantic song, Wonderful Tonight! The very next day, Laura invited me to a family afternoon at her sister’s home. A few days later, she made a special dinner just for the two of us, and surprised me with a gift of cologne which she picked especially for me. In less than three weeks I was smitten beyond imagination with this amazing woman! The reality that Laura was that one special person to share the rest of my life with was setting in, and I believed that she felt the same. We became inseparable. We were in love.
Then came the day, 2 months after Laura and I met, that my Primary Care Physician broke the news to me that my first-ever PSA test was so high that I likely had prostate cancer. A range of emotions came over me, and I was scared and confused. But, as Laura consoled me, she emphatically voiced that she would stand by me no matter what. The subsequent biopsy confirmed that I had a high-grade aggressive cancer and that surgery to remove my prostate was imminent. Again, Laura expressed her unwavering commitment to stand by me.
Fast forward to September of 2018, barely one year after our first date and six months after my radical prostatectomy, Laura and I made the ultimate commitment to one another and were married! And, I couldn’t ask for anyone better to care for me through this tough time in my life and beyond. I love you deeply and forever, Laura!
