Almost six years ago my husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. I had retired one month earlier and worried about how he would continue to work since neither of us were 65 yet and we needed health insurance, especially since he had cancer. He managed to work two and a half more years until it became impossible to perform the Dry physical duties of a Printing Pressman. I have done my best to make sure we are doing everything possible to give us more time. I investigate treatments and accompany him to every doctor appointment. I always ask the doctors lots of questions to make sure he is getting everything he needs to keep him as comfortable as possible. I manage his prescriptions and supplements and each week make sure his pills are in the dispenser so he can take them twice a day. Our goal is to make it to our 50th wedding anniversary, in Sept of 2020. We’ve made it this far–Nothing can stop us now. I make sure he knows his battle is OUR battle and he will never be alone.
