My caregiver as I went through breast cancer is my husband Dennis. We married at 18. At age 49 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction. It was a dark time in my life. My husband supported my decision to go off of work during that time. I work with autistic children and my job can be physical. My husband changed my bandages, emptied my dranes, combed my hair, made me feel beautiful and secure and even took over cleaning the house. I’m now coming upon my ten years cancer free in November. My husband and I are celebrating our 40 year anniversary in August, I’m grateful to have this man by my side! I’m grateful to God for sending him to me!
