PCF Team Science
Building the best teams to fight prostate cancer
For more than a quarter-century, the Prostate Cancer Foundation has led the charge to bring together the best and brightest physician-scientists and researchers. Team Science, as it has come to be known, is our network of doctors and scientists who share their research and work together in the fight against prostate cancer. Determining that prostate cancer treatments were in a bleak state 29 years ago, PCF created Team Science to accelerate positive change and invest in transformational research with the goal of reducing deaths from prostate cancer.
And that’s a lot of men: 1 in 8 U.S. men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime, and over 34,000 men will die of the disease in 2022. But, times have changed and the way that prostate cancer research has been funded and directed has also changed, due in large part to the work of PCF and PCF-funded researchers.
How has PCF led that change? We rely primarily on private contributions, that we use to award funds to the world’s most promising researchers. Once funded, these researchers become a part of Team Science. They share their research with others to inspire new ideas and collaborations, speeding the time to discoveries. We’ve recruited thousands of the best minds in prostate cancer research, leading to a deeper understanding of how prostate cancer works and, consequently, many new diagnostic methods and treatments, and someday, a cure for prostate cancer.
Through your donations, PCF has and will continue to strive to end death and suffering from prostate cancer.
