ATLANTA HAWKS FOUNDATION AND RESSLER GERTZ FAMILY FOUNDATION
TEAM UP TO DONATE $150,000 TO PROSTATE CANCER FOUNDATION

Nearly a Million Dollars Raised Since 2019 to Raise Awareness and Support Research of Prostate Cancer

ATLANTA – Before tonight’s game, the Atlanta Hawks Foundation, along with the Ressler Gertz Family Foundation, announced a donation of $150,0000 to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) to help raise awareness about prostate cancer and support vital research initiatives for the foundation.

This season, the Atlanta Hawks Foundation pledged a donation of $75,000 to PCF, which continues to lead groundbreaking research and foster a collaborative community dedicated to advancing treatments and support for prostate cancer patients, with a mission to reduce mortality and improve quality of life worldwide. Additionally, the Ressler Gertz Family Foundation, the philanthropic foundation of Hawks Principal Owners Tony Ressler and Jami Gertz, have matched the donation dollar-for-dollar, resulting in a combined contribution of $150,000. This year’s donation will bring the total to $927,000 since the partnership’s inception in 2019, a testament to the enduring and successful collaboration between PCF and the Atlanta Hawks.

Onsite presenting the check to PCF was Executive Director of the Atlanta Hawks Foundation David Lee and Principal Advisor to the Governor Nick Ressler. Also on hand during the presentation was Martin Sanda, MD, a prostate cancer surgeon at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.

“At the Hawks, we believe in the power of partnerships to drive positive change,” said David Lee, Hawks’ Executive Vice President of External Affairs and Executive Director of the Atlanta Hawks Foundation. “By teaming up with the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Winship Cancer Institute, we aim to continue amplifying awareness about prostate cancer and advance research efforts towards finding a cure.”

As Georgia’s first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is a national leader in seeking out new ways to defeat cancer and in translating that knowledge into patient care.

“We are deeply grateful for the continued support of the Atlanta Hawks and the Tony Ressler and Jami Gertz Family Foundation,” said PCF President Gina Carithers. “This generous contribution will fuel critical research initiatives, bringing us one step closer to our ultimate goal of eradicating prostate cancer. Together, with the Atlanta Hawks and the Winship Cancer Institute, we are united in our mission to raise awareness, fund innovative research, and provide support for those affected by prostate cancer.”

Since 2019, the Hawks and PCF have partnered together to combat prostate cancer and raise awareness about the disease. In past seasons, the Atlanta Hawks and PCF partnered together for the Black History Month Assist Challenge, in which throughout the month of February and in recognition of Black History Month, for every assist registered by the Hawks, the Hawks Foundation donated $250 to PCF.
