108 Miles in September

Prostate Cancer Awareness Month > 108 Miles in September Challenge

Welcome, and prepare to Power Up Your Health! Can you complete 108 miles in 30 days for the 1 in 8 men who will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime? Follow the steps below to get started!

Get Started:

  1. Join the private Facebook group.
  2. Create your Facebook fundraiser.
  3. Put in 108 miles in September walking, running, or hiking!
  4. Set your goals and log your miles as you go in our tracker!

How does this work? To start, exercise improves the function of the tiny “power packs” in your cells that produce energy. You’ll feel empowered to set your fitness goals and accomplish them. And for people with prostate cancer, the health benefits of exercise are well-documented, including improved cardiovascular fitness and a lower risk of progression and recurrence. Check out this article on how exercise makes the body less hospitable to prostate cancer and this interview with PCF-funded researcher Christina Dieli-Conwright, PhD, MPH, for practical tips on getting started.

For friends, family members, caregivers, or anyone wanting to support prostate cancer research, you’ll be reaping the health benefits too. It seems like every day there’s another story in the news highlighting the reasons to exercise.

This September, challenge yourself to raise money for prostate cancer research and walk away
with better health.

Let’s power up our health together!
