How does this work? To start, exercise improves the function of the tiny “power packs” in your cells that produce energy. You’ll feel empowered to set your fitness goals and accomplish them. And for people with prostate cancer, the health benefits of exercise are well-documented, including improved cardiovascular fitness and a lower risk of progression and recurrence. Check out this article on how exercise makes the body less hospitable to prostate cancer and this interview with PCF-funded researcher Christina Dieli-Conwright, PhD, MPH, for practical tips on getting started.
For friends, family members, caregivers, or anyone wanting to support prostate cancer research, you’ll be reaping the health benefits too. It seems like every day there’s another story in the news highlighting the reasons to exercise.
This September, challenge yourself to raise money for prostate cancer research and walk away
with better health.
Let’s power up our health together!

If you’re looking for alternatives to walking and running, no problem. Feel free to substitute swimming (try pool running with a flotation belt!), cycling (indoor or outdoor), or another activity. The key is to move as vigorously as you can for the equivalent of 108 miles. If you need to convert to miles, count 15 or 20 minutes of your activity as one mile.
If you have any additional questions regarding the challenge, feel free to email us at [email protected]. You can also review the FAQs to help answer most of your questions.
