I am actually sharing this story on behalf of my ex-boyfriend and his mother whose father/husband, Steve Cole, who I knew and loved dearly from diagnosis to death. He was such a light in so many people’s lives and the 2 of them (mostly Chris, his wife) cared for him through some very painful highs and lows. Losing him has taken such a toll on them, including the sad end of my relationship with them. But they deserve so much, from rushing to the hospital in the early morning, dozens of different treatments, the fear, months of hospice with the one you love slowly slipping away. It was brutal. Witnessing it was brutal, so I know experiencing it from their hearts was unbearable. But they made it through. Being a care giver is so difficult. I know from caring for my mom when she had cancer when I was 12 and I had to take care of her during chemo and then a bit with Andrew’s father. Chris and Andrew Cole deserve this.
