Well here goes…. My father, now 85yrs, was diagnosed w prostate cancer 3 yrs ago. It was a tough road for him, but the seeds and hormone treatments have brought his PSA down to a normal level. In the meantime, my mom, his wife of 65 yrs. becomes diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Much like the movie the Notebook, my dad has become her caretaker now. He has never left her side and she can never be alone. She made us promise not to give her meds, I think her generation was shameful of Alzheimer’s. My dad is with her every moment. He is basically living to take care of her. Their love story is unreal! Their bond is so great through all the sickness. My father is a remarkable caregiver and yet would never claim that title.
