About Jude F.
I met my husband in 2013 and a year later we discovered he had inoperable prostate cancer. He is serving in the Royal NZ Navy (33yrs service so far)…. He only took one week off during his 3 years of hormone treatment and horrendous radiation therapy that he attended 5 days a week for 7 weeks. A year after his diagnosis we were engaged and a year after that we were married. To cheer him up on his sad days we would do silly things like hold hands and skip ….. You can’t be sad skipping right? Im a fixer. As a mum I naturally want to fix all that is wrong in the world but I couldn’t fix him. So I loved him and supported him through the good and bad. I have been involved in awareness campaigns since his diagnosis. Tv interviews, magazine articles…. Anything to let men know they need to get checked. Im a nobody but I could make a difference to someone right? My husband was only 47yrs when diagnosed so it’s not an old man’s disease. His twin brother got checked and he had low level cancer so he could have the surgery and he is now cured (yay). Today my darling is in remission. We don’t know what our future holds but we are making the most of our lives now by traveling when we can, going to shows…. Heck, I’ve even taken up golf so we can hang out. Thank you Kristen for helping raise awareness.
