About Roel R.
Hi, my name is Cynthia and my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 1995. He had a gleason score of 9. He was not give much hope; however; 17 years later with the power of prayer and the fantabulous drs at MDAnderson in Houston Texas I still have him here by my side. My beautiful mom first cared for my dad but then got diagnosed with Alzheimer’s so I stepped in to help my dad care for her. After 12 years my beautiful mom sadly lost her battle to Alzheimer’s in April of 2014. (Horrible disease) In January 2014 months before my mom passed away my dad’s cancer had metastasized into the bone. It’s been 4 years and we’ve had our ups and downs but I thank God and Dr Paul Corn at MD Anderson for each and every day I get to spend with my dad. I would have to say that these past 3 months have been so hard for my dad. At the young age of 74 his world has completely turned around. From being so independent and carefree he has now needed the help of his family on a daily basis. I have gladly taken him to his drs appts, church and the ranch which he loves so much. These last 3 months have been so hard, so heart breaking and so stressful but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I have gotten so much closer to my dad and have made such great memories. I don’t know how much time we have left together, but I’m going to try my best to keep him happy and enjoy every single darn minute we have together. I will never forget the day that I took him to church and literally had to help him stand up after he was sitting on the pew. That day changed my life forever. Every day is a gift from God and I will cherish every day I have left we this great man, who I proudly call my dad! ❤ I love him to the moon and back! P.S. CANCER SUCKS!
